Advanced AI: Privacy-First Intelligence
Get premium features without the subscription. Powered by Apple Intelligence, CastKeeper delivers on-device transcriptions, smart chapters, and AI summaries with sponsor recognition—all while keeping your data 100% private.
Unlike most podcast apps, CastKeeper is built on a foundation of user ownership and privacy. We don’t require accounts, track your listening habits, or lock features behind subscriptions. Your library is your own, with the ability to archive your favorite episodes securely in your personal cloud storage. By leveraging Apple Intelligence for advanced features like AI summaries and smart chapters, we deliver a premium, privacy-first experience that puts you in control of your podcast listening.
All devices running iOS 26 or higher are supported. Apple Intelligence support is required for chapter generation and other AI features. iPhone 15 Pro or higher is recommended for the best experience, or an iPad with a M2 chip or higher.
CastKeeper stores your data locally on your device, and uses Apple's CloudKit framework to sync your data across devices. No separate login is required for this feature. Archived podcasts are stored securely on your device, iCloud Drive, or your Cloudflare R2 storage.
No, we do not collect any data without your explicit consent. Our hosts directory is hosted on a secure database and we do not require any personal information to use this feature. Updates to hosts are submitted by users and verified by our team or the podcast owner before being added to the directory.
Cloudflare R2 is an S3-compatible object storage service that users can use to store their archived podcasts. It is only accessible via the API token that you provide, and the API key is stored in your Keychain and never stored on our servers. You can find more information about Cloudflare R2 here.
Cloudflare R2 offers a generous free tier, and no egress fees. Cloudflare's global network provides a fast and reliable solution for users to access their archived podcasts. While not required for CastKeeper to function, it is recommended for users who want to access and store their library outside of their iCloud Drive. It is also a cost-effective solution for users who have a large library of archived podcasts.
We are constantly evaluating new cloud storage providers for future updates. However, we consider many factors such as total cost, ease of use, and security. If you have a cloud storage provider in mind that you think we should evaluate, please email us at support@castkeeper.app.
CastKeeper never stores your data on our servers. Your data is stored in your iCloud Drive, your Cloudflare R2, or your local device. We are not responsible for lost data due to any failures of these third-party services.
You can delete your data in CastKeeper, or directly from your iCloud Drive, Cloudflare R2, or local device.
CastKeeper is meant to be your personal podcast archive. If the app detects that your podcasts are stored in a shared or public folder, it will no longer allow you to archive podcasts to that folder. You are responsible for applying to all applicable laws and regulations regarding the distribution of podcasts. CastKeeper is not responsible for any copyright infringement or other legal issues that may arise from your use of the app.
On-device AI uses Apple's CoreML framework and on-device Apple Intelligence to provide advanced features like AI summaries and smart chapters. This means that your audio is processed locally on your device and is never sent to the cloud for transcription.
No. All transcription is done on-device using Apple's CoreML and WhisperKit on-device.
No. CastKeeper is a one-time purchase and does not require a subscription. Unlike other AI-enabled podcast apps, we believe that users should be able to harness the power of AI without the need to pay a monthly fee or send data to third parties. You paid enough for your iPhone, you shouldn't have to pay for AI features on top of that.
Beyond the initial purchase of CastKeeper, there are no additional costs to use the app. External cloud storage, if used, will be subject to the terms of service and costs of the cloud provider. You can review Apple's iCloud Drive pricing here. Cloudflare R2 pricing can be found here. We recommend you review the pricing and terms of service of any cloud storage provider you choose to use.
